bridging gaps between care providers and IT/technology staff
1) If you have clinical background, do you plan to pursue IT or technology career path and If you do not have clinical background, what are your thoughts on bridging gaps between care providers and IT/technology staff?
I recall last year leaving work at one of the large health care system, the robotic medication dispenser malfunctioned, blocking a somewhat narrow doorway. Of course it could not be moved manually, but employees, visitors and patients were trying to push it out of the doorway.
I was surprise there were no immediate processes in place to address the issue, which did not seem unusual. I was able to squeeze around the dispenser, but patients in wheelchairs and the portable xray machine could not pass. If you recall failure mode effects analysis (FMEA) quality concept, obviously there was no plan of action to address this breakdown.
2)Class…..if you were tasked with addressing this type of issue, what would be your initial steps in your action plan?
